It’s almost done… After comparing it to the previous versions, though, I may try to lighten up the back wall a little bit more and add some midtones back into the dress.

The under painting had a loose, painterly quality that I liked, so I am trying my best to keep it that way. Painting the back wall is turning out to be a challenge. I probably will only make minor changes before I consider this done.

I started a new painting tonight. I’m lucky to have a great little model around. Since I could control the composition and lighting, I think this one will go smoothly.

Oh I’m lovin’ this one already; I look forward to seeing how it develops.

wow, this might (might) be my favorite – love the shadows (especially under the eye) and dress. I see you darkened it a bit, but did you add a reddish tone to it as well?

Thanks, William! I tried to keep the painting light…but it ended up darker than I intended. I did warm up some of the colors. The colors don’t always translate very well from the painting to the photo, though. The original underpainting was actually darker (and less yellow) than it looked in the photo.

completely understand the painting/to photo problem; I’ll have to see in person one day.
